Constable May Walker’s Law Enforcement Scholarship

Constable May Walker's Law Enforcement Scholarship is intended to provide assistance to two students who have expressed an interest in a career in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement.  It awards two (2) four-year scholarships to students who live in and attend a high school located within the Precinct 7 jurisdiction. The two scholarships include tuition and a book voucher for the fall and spring semesters. Parents or students are financially responsible for courses taken during the summer months.

The Law Enforcement Scholarship Program was established by Constable Walker in 2005.  Melissa Anne Lopez a graduate of Sterling High School and Chase Williams a graduate of Madison High School were the first recipients of this scholarship. Precinct 7 graduates Kerek Smith, of Jack Yates High School and Chelsa Brown, of James Madison High School are the second set of students to benefit from the Precinct 7 Scholarship Program.

Constable May Walker was excited to name Joshua Hawkins as the 2017 recipient of the May Walker Law Enforcement Scholarship. Hawkins graduated from Sterling Aviation High School, and became the 8th student to be awarded the four (4) year scholarship. Joshua is currently a Freshman at Texas Southern University majoring in Administration of Justice.

Events like the Constable May Walker Law Enforcement Scholarship Golf Classic help underwrite this scholarship program and provide funding to deserving individuals who otherwise would not have an opportunity to pursue higher education.
